![]() ![]() The only escape is a hole that has appeared in his home which transports him to various nightmarish hellscapes. Released in 2004, the game focused on protagonist Henry Townshend who has been locked in his apartment by a mysterious force. As we noted in our report on those ports, slapping a price tag on whatever old Konami games people love, throwing it out the window, and calling it a day has kind of become the business model for a once-proud game studio who has stepped away from making notable new games in recent years in favor of chasing that sweet DLC, re-release, and Pachinko machine money.Įven still, you shouldn’t let any of that distract you from the fact that Silent Hill 4 is a very interesting game. That would make a lot of sense considering that Konami recently re-released the original PC ports of Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 (as well as a Contra/ Castlevania collection and the original Metal Gear). That would seem to suggest that this is merely a re-release of the original Silent Hill 4 PC port which hasn’t been available via digital marketplaces for quite some time. The game’s description mentions basic features and plot points, but there are no references to any enhancements specific to this release. ![]() Enter The Room, a thrilling story in the most terrifying game series of all time.” “With gruesome sights around every corner and his sanity being tested, he must find his way out of this nightmare. “Henry Townshend finds himself trapped in his apartment and the only escape is through a mysterious portal that leads to a horrifying alternate reality,” reads a description of the game on GOG’s website. Downpour is just trapped completely.Konami has re-released cult classic horror game Silent Hill 4: The Room on GOG for $9.99. Homecoming technically is on PC as well but I've heard it's not a great version. You can play them all on Xbox but since you don't have one, they're trapped on PS3. Though Homecoming and Downpour aren't easily available for you. Origins is the only one I actively DISLIKE. Though there's also good stuff in there too. If you didn't want to see everything, you can skip them. So I guess Wii emulation? You may have to do some fiddling to get the audio meant to come out of the wiimote working.Īs for the other ones, Origins, Homecoming, and Downpour. I prefer the PS2 version for lack of waggle but it's rarer and more expensive (and technically inferior). The PS2 version doesn't emulate well at all and the Wii version required you to be able to set up motion control stuff. The less spoiled about it the better but it's a fantastic different take on Silent Hill as a series. Shattered Memories is absolutely worth playing after 1-4. I know there was a recent release on GOG, no idea if it's any good, but PS2 emulation is fine. A lot of interesting ideas that are worth seeing. It's not as good as 1-3 but it's still part of the original run and it was their attempt to be weird and experimental. It might not hit everything it tried to do but has a lot of good ideas on display (Even if stuff like lackluster monster designs kinda hurt it).Ĭlick to shrink.SH4 is worth playing. It's not a perfect game but I consider it the most ambitious out of the western titles barring Shattered Memories. ![]() They're moreso there if you want more Silent HIll than having any really interesting story to experience IMO.ĭownpour on the other hand I think is well worth checking out (But sadly, unless you have an Xbox that's basically out of hand unless you get into PS3 Emulation). Homecoming & Origins aren't bad either but more run-of-the-mill. Thankfully that one is on GoG and easy to get a hold of and play.Īfter that, I definitely recommend Shattered Memories (Any Version as it's mostly the same game, just Wii & PS2 have better graphics than PSP and Wii has the Waggle). If you play the first 3 and want more then you'll definitely be recommended SH4 (I haven't played that but 1-4 seem to be what people consider a packaged deal of what needs to be played). ![]()
